I encountered a bit of a snag. After measuring everything from the old and the new, the only difference between the mufflers was about 1" shorter tips. No biggy there. However the connecting point on the inlet was further recessed in the car than anticpated which made the hangers come up short by about 2" or should I say the whole muffler is now recessed by about 2". I had to do a double stage install. The muffler shop doesn't have the right welding equipment for polished SS, but the welding/fabricating shop across the road does. So, I have to coordinate the install timings that will work with both shops at the same time. After a quick test fit, it was determined that either the hangers needed to be repositioned or extended, OR an additional 2" of 2.5" SS piping had to be found for each side. Neither shop had that so my only option was to extend the hangers since removing the original ones that LaBree put on would mar the finish and I was affraid we might screw up the weld on the body of the muffler. I took both new mufflers over the the metal shop and had each hander arm extened by ~3" just to be on the safe side. We cut the old mufflers off leaving as much pipe as possible. We postioned the new mufflers in the hangers and did 2 small tack welds on each pipe. We removed both new mufflers with the adjoining pipe and walked across the street to the metal shop to get the nice tig weld around each pipe connection. Then walk back with the finished welds and re-install the new mufflers. Kind of a sordid way of getting it done, but it worked. And it was very cost efficient this way as well - $50 in total for both shops.
